-
The
chart shows a suggested loop length ("L"
) for various stock thickness and amount of slack material ("S")
for various feed line heights ("H").
-
“R”
is normally considered to be about 360 x strip material thickness for mild
steel to avoid distortion of material in free loop..
-
In
the example shown, there are four radii therefore: "L"=
4 x 360 x material thickness.
-
Increasing
the "L" dimension
to more than required for your material thickness is undesirable because
it decreases available slack and increases the load on the feeder.
-
If
the loop control is an “off-on” type slack material should be about
two feed lengths.
-
If
the loop control provides variable speed depending on loop depth, slack
can be less, but will depend on factors such as strokes per minute, feed
length, etc..
